It’s perhaps not a headline anymore to declare a game updated for the $700 PS5 Pro will look and run better, but Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has shared a nugget of new information after it was announced the title would be taking advantage of Sony’s new hardware.
“At Round8, we always strive to deliver a polished and engaging experience with Lies of P, and we're grateful for the positive reception of the game's optimisation on all platforms,” he told Eurogamer.net. “With the introduction of the PS5 Pro, we're excited to take that experience a step further, offering enhanced performance that we hope players will appreciate.”
While he didn’t delve into Digital Foundry depths of detail, he did say this: “Quality Mode benefits from more than a 30 per cent increase in frames-per-second, delivering smoother, more fluid gameplay. Additionally, Performance Mode now supports full native 4K resolution, allowing players to enjoy stunning visuals without sacrificing responsiveness.”
The game’s Quality Mode did achieve 30fps on the bog-standard PS5, but was undone by jittery frame pacing, which we assume is what’s been fixed here. Meanwhile, the Performance Mode fluctuated anywhere from 1512p up to 1800p; we’re assuming Sony’s proprietary upscaler PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is being utilised to resolve that clean 2160p.
We imagine there’ll be other enhancements and improvements to discuss once we have the PS5 Pro in our hands, but for now that’s the overview – an improvement to the performance of the game’s two key graphics modes. Considering this is such a well-liked game, we’re happy to see it updated for Sony’s new hardware.

Just give me an unlocked Driveclub
sighs in still no Bloodborne updates
I'll get my magnifying glass at the ready! 😂
Careful. You’re going to annoy all the people who still claim there’s no use for the pro.
@AgentGuapo There is use for the pro. It's just that it's annoying that Sony is trying to extract more money from old games while not releasing anything.
@Yaycandy Oh man now you are talking, would be a dream.
@AgentGuapo Never claimed there wasn’t. Just no use for me, since I don’t feel like paying another $70 on top of the $699 for a console just to play the majority of my owned games. I’ll live with my peasant-class PS5.
The last 10 years have just been waiting for patches in games. First it was PS4 Pro, then PS5 now PS5 Pro.
Only from what he said ie 'native 4k' - that sounds more like its leveraging the extra GPU to achieve the boost to 4k without needing PSSR, although that begs the question what settings are higher now in the quality mode to make it still relevant?
(Unless im wrong, I thought native 4k means 4k pre upscale).
For those that like 40fps, it sounds like thats the goal for the new quality mode too potentially (with the right TV of course).
Good news is good for the soul
I like the game, but I wish it hadn't focused so much on lying. I think they could have called the game "Truthful P" and it would have been just as good.
I'm sure it will. My hope is that every game will run and look better.
This game is PEI detected (PlayStation Enhanced In-game)
I played the game using performance mode and it is so damn smooth. I also played using the quality mode just to see how good it looked (and it does look superb) however where was the juddery frame pacing? I'm sure pushsquare just love to be controversial for the sake of it sometimes. In the last article about lies of p the visuals in performance mode were described as muddy. Lies of pushsquare abound.
Couldn't give a monkeys about PS5 pro, I'll stick with my launch PS5.
Lol, it already looked and ran great even in performance mode. Any issues were so minor as to be undetectable by this avid soulslike fan. Nowhere near the poor performance and aging visuals coming out of Fromsoft.
Sony and it's marketing arms are really grasping at every straw to increase pro demand and shape public perceptions........
@KundaliniRising333 agreed. I don't understand why pushsquare insist on pushing false information surrounding this game. The visuals in performance mode were very clear and sharp and ran flawlessly. Quality mode kept a constant 30fps,looked awesome and the frame pacing was great and not juddery as claimed here. Its things like this that put people off great games but at least the gamers that have played the game such as yourself and me are at hand to call out these false claims.
@Northern_munkey agreed. The only discourse I remember around the game was it's parry window but even that I think was slightly addressed.
That actual final boss if you make that certain decision though.... Kicked my ass many times 🤣
@KundaliniRising333 I loved the game and it's one I intend to revisit again as soon as I have cleared my backlog of games I've started but never finished. I think I'm nearing the end of wukong and I've got the HZD remaster waiting in the wings too. I'll be interested to see where the sequel to lies takes us next.
"Lies of P Will Look and Run Better on PS5 Pro"
People would hope so, after paying over $700.00
The real question is, would those improvements justify the $700.00 price tag....that's the real question.
One of the best games I've played in the last few years, whatever console you own this is worth playing.
Great game... I'll wait for the DLC to buy on PS though as I played on GP
@Major_Player The ACTUAL real question Johnny is, how long are you xbox fanboys going to cry over the PS5 Pro?
